Wardens Weekly Message

Dear parishioners and friends of St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Barriefield,

The Eucharist table was set with harvest decorations in place, our new incumbent Rev. Sandra Hounsell-Drover presided and preached on this our first Sunday (Thanksgiving) seven months after we were shuttered due to the pandemic. It was wonderful to be present with fellow sisters and brothers gathering in the hall as our long awaited “Accessibility for All” project gets underway. Thank you to all involved for getting us to this point – what joy!!

JOY: that strong feeling of happiness, gladness, delight. A state of contentment. To be glad; rejoice.

Romans 15:13  This passage is God’s promise to us that through the Holy Spirit we are filled with what we need to live life with purpose full of joy and hope. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

John 16:24  All you need to do on our path of life is to ask and we will receive. Christ is always there 24/7 waiting for us to ask and receive the joy He holds for us. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete”.

We pray to God that on this day we can renew hope in the Lord of life, renewing our faith and certainty that He will always be around us opening new paths and bringing us new challenges of life. May we stay waiting for the Lord, His light will guide us. Amen.

Hymn #401 in Common Praise: My Life Flows on in Endless Song (I’m sure the tune is in your head)

My life flows on in endless song above earth’s lamentation. I hear the real though far-off hymn that hails a new creation.

No storm can shake my in-most calm, while to that Rock I’m clinging.

Since Love is Lord of heaven and earth, how can I keep from singing!

The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart, a fountain ever springing. All things are mine since I am his: how can I keep from singing?

No storm can shake my in-most calm, while to that Rock I’m clinging.

Since Love is Lord of heaven and earth, how can I keep from singing!
