The annual Parish Car Rally (until COVID came along) is being re-instated and is happening on Saturday, November 02. It will start off with registration and waiver signing by participants, paying of fees and a chili/salad lunch at NOON in the Parish Hall. Julia Moore, race coordinator, will brief the participants on the 90-minute challenge they have signed up for and cars will be organized for a staggered start – set for 1 pm. As the cars return to the Hall, their total time will be recorded and their answers to the challenges will be submitted for judging. While the participants await the return of all cars and the deliberation of the judges they will be served a seasonal dessert with the standard beverages.
Fees, that include lunch, dessert and beverages, are $20 per person or $50 per car. Those age 12 and under are free.
There are three prizes.
Please note that the St. Mark’s Rally is different from most. Ours is not a test of driving, navigation and speed but one stressing safety, observation, organization, common sense, for all ages. Primary aim is to have fun while contributing to our Tower Fund. The fee structure is designed to encourage each car to have four people because alert observation is the key top winning a prize, and we are assuming the driver has their eyes on the road/traffic.
This event is open to the Kingston community, for all ages. Who doesn’t enjoy 90 minutes of fun with friends and a tasty lunch on a lovely day? To help us prepare for the lunch numbers, we are asking participants to pre-register with Melody at our Parish Office: 613 546-3386 no later than Friday, November 1.
