For the second year, the Parish is sponsoring a public BBQ and Strawberry Social to be held in the Parish Hall on 28 June, from 5-7 pm. Although initiated as a fundraiser for the Tower, it was apparent last year that the event was a great fellowship experience for the Parish plus a rare opportunity to bring/invite friends and neighbors as an introduction to your church. The menu dictates slightly more volunteers involved than our other fundraisers and so we will need a lot of support from many to pull it off. This is your chance to directly contribute for our Tower restoration.
To be able to order the right amount of supplies for this event we need to sell tickets in advance. Limited by the number of chairs we have in the Hall, we plan to sell 90 tickets but must know the number sold by 25 June. Tickets are available from Ted, Mercedes or Melody at the church office. Tickets are $25 each.
The BBQ will be hamburgers/hotdogs with all the condiments and Lionheart salads. Volunteers are required to BBQ, serve the meat and dish out the salads. Need a coordinator for the first part of the meal (ensure condiments are always available, onions, lettuce and tomatoes are cut and available and the meat arrives inside in a timely way depending on demand, plates/cutlery are available, etc). We’ll need someone to take tickets.
The dessert will be cake, ice cream and fresh strawberries. We’ll need three people at the dessert table to serve and provide the dessert plates and spoons. We will be asking the ladies of the Parish to provide cakes.
As usual, there will be a beverage table (coffee, tea, water and juice) so one person is needed to set up that table, make the coffee/tea and monitor the cream/milk/sugar/tea supply and cups/glasses.
The tables and chairs will have to be set up in the Hall on Friday afternoon as well as putting out the food tables and preparing the condiments (cutting the onions and tomatoes) plus wrapping a napkin around a fork/knife/spoon for each customer. The BBQ and necessary tables required outside will need to be organized. For that we need four people who will also be responsible for squaring off as necessary after the event. Using paper plates but will still need four dishwashers/dryers.
Most desirable we pick our own strawberries (ensuring clean and ripe berries at half the price) so looking for three pickers to pick Thursday morning (27th) at Fruition Berry Farm (10 minutes north off Hywy 15) for about two hours. Fresh strawberries are really our big drawing item that few others can offer so they are a very important factor for our success.
Volunteers are asked to call Melody at our Parish Office (613 546-3386) now so you get the job you want. We need your help please to make this a success.
