Prayers of the PeopleJanuary 2, 2022 As a result of technical difficulties experienced today, when livestreaming the 10:30 am Worship Service, the Prayers of the People, as offered by Warden Anne Patterson, may have been difficult to follow. As such, they are repeated below: Lord of light and love, let the radiance of your presence be a light to our path and a guide on our journey. Banish from us all deeds of darkness, that we may come to your presence and walk before you as children of light; through him who is the light of the world, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. God, who by the leading of the star brought people of various nations to worship before you, give guidance to all who are seekers, all reaching out to extend their vision and their lives. We pray for pilgrims and those who are seeking to deepen their faith. Grant that your church may be welcoming and sensitive to all who are looking for meaning and purpose. We pray for St. Mark’s Church and for the mission of your church worldwide. We pray especially for those who teach and preach about you and your love; asking especially for Archbishop Linda; Bishop Michael; Reverends Sandra, John, Meg, Wayne, and Reg. We pray this Sunday, in our Anglican Cycle of Prayer, for the Province de L’Eglise Anglicane Du Congo. In the Anglican Church of Canada Cycle of Prayer we pray for The Most Rev. Mark MacDonald, National Indigenous Anglican Archbishop, and the staff of Indigenous Ministries; the Anglican Council of Indigenous People. In our Diocesan Cycle of Prayer we pray for The Parish of Land O’Lakes; Holy Trinity, Plevna; the Rev. Richard Hetke, Priest in Charge. Lord, in your mercy; hear our prayer. We pray for nations that are emerging into a new freedom or awareness; countries where people are oppressed; those recovering from war or from disasters: the earthquake in California; the wildfires in Colorado; the extreme cold after the fires and floods on our west coast; droughts and other disasters in African countries; the people suffering from the pandemic in all nations. Lord, we bless the work of relief organizations, those working in health care, in essential services, and all who care for the poor. We remember all who are travellers at this time, all who are homeless and those who are refugees. Lord, in your mercy; hear our prayer. We give thanks, Father, that you are present in our homes and in our lives: we seek your blessing and your guidance. In our Parish Cycle of Prayer we pray for: Charles Bird & Irene Pascoe; Bev Bonner; Ethel Broder; Elaine Bryan. We pray for those in need of pastoral care and love especially: Maurice & Mary; Lou; William; Blake; Jay; Elena; Russ; David; Bob; Judy; Margaret; Mary; Don; Pierre; Debbie; Della and family; Richard; Gillian. We pray for all those known to us, and those whose needs are only known to God. Lord, we pray for those who are coming to the end of their journey here on earth and pray that they may come into your presence and kingdom. We pray for all who have come before your face and rejoice in the fullness of life eternal. We come to you, Lord Jesus, with heavy hearts as our sister Phyllis has passed from this earthly life into your nearer presence. As emails drift around about Phyllis we see a true and faithful servant of God – a good and caring friend, fun-loving and witty, generous in love, time, talent and resources, a warm and friendly lady to all she met, a loving mother and grandmother. We honour her loving service to you, to us and to the church. May she now rest in peace. As we grieve her passing we ask that God’s guiding light will be with Phyllis’ daughters Cathy and Sharon and their families. Lord, in your mercy; hear our prayer. Amen. |
