The Reverend Major(ret’d) Sue Beare comes to us from her recent experience as a contracted Chaplain for Corrections Services Canada. She volunteers her time with the outreach program ‘Servicewomen’s Salute’ headed by LCdr(N)(ret’d) Rosemary Park, as a Chaplain with St John Ambulance – Frontenac Branch in Kingston, and in counselling with men and women who are survivors of military sexual trauma.
Sue is currently an Honorary Assistant at St. James Anglican in Kingston where she provides Spiritual Direction and Solution Focused Brief Therapy to members of the wider community. Her time and resources have been spent in one-on-one Pastoral Counselling sessions with Christians and adherents of other religions and spiritualities, as well as with serving and retired members of the Canadian Forces and Corrections Services Canada. She and her husband have spent two years in the facilitation of ‘Post Traumatic Growth Groups’ for inmate populations through CSC‘s Centres for Spiritual Development.
For the past eleven years, Sue and her family have enjoyed living in Kingston with their menagerie of pets and touring the wider area on their motorcycles. They look forward to sharing their Christian walk with the parishioners of St Mark‘s Anglican Church as they prayerfully seek for a new Rector to come and serve in their warm and welcoming community.
