Welcome to St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Barriefield, Kingston
Dear Parishioners of St. Mark’s and friends:
As we sit in physical and social isolation, we lament of the regular contact we have with each other at Sunday services and mid-week meetings. We know the Lord is with us, we see it in the kindness shown to us by friends and strangers, health care workers, and those in essential services and levels of government. Take heart, you are in our prayers and we know we are held in yours. There will be a rainbow at the end of this virus, it may be a long time coming, but we know it will happen. The wardens and committee members are working via internet to keep us all connected and make sure that everyone is safe and if services are needed, i.e. groceries, meds, or anything we can do to make your day to day life easier, please call one of us. A telephone tree is being set up and soon you will receive either an email or a telephone call from one of the parishioners and we thank those who are taking on this ministry. A telephone call or e-mail can be made to our priest, Rev’d. Sue, at 613-331-0483, or AnamCaraBear@gmail.com, or to the church office 613-546-3386 (firstname.lastname@example.org) at any time.
The Parish Profile to seek a new rector for the parish is complete and has been sent to the Archdeacon and the Bishop. We look forward to next steps as they unfold for us as a parish and for the community. We have also been extremely blessed to receive a grant from the Pittsburgh Community Benefit Fund for half the cost of the ramp construction to make St. Mark’s Church accessible to everyone. This will be so welcome for our community when it is complete – the construction will hopefully commence this spring. We continue to fundraise for the remainder of monies needed, but it will be a little more difficult in the situation we find ourselves in with all churches and activities being closed or put on hold. Any donations can be mailed to the church office at 268 Main Street, Kingston K7K 6W4 for convenience. Check out the posts (scrolling over there on the right) for up-to-date news, and check the “COVID-19” menu/pages above.
We thought this photo of Ely Cathedral, UK, was so beautiful and gave us a sense of calm (Photo: Andrew Sharpe).
