Tree of Hope Lenten AppealThroughout the season of Lent, we are invited to embrace the call to a holy Lent through prayer, self-examination, and almsgiving. This year, we are pleased to partner with the Tree of Hope campaign in support of Family and Children’s Services of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington (FACSFLA). You are invited to participate in this Lenten appeal by making a donation using the special envelopes provided. Cheques may be made payable to Family and Children’s Services with “Tree of Hope” noted on the memo line. Tax receipts will be issued by FACSFLA for all donations over $20. Please ensure your address is clearly written on the envelope. If you prefer, you may also give directly through FACSFLA’s secure online portal - here Thank you for helping to plant seeds of hope that will flourish throughout the year. |

Lenten StudyStarting Monday, February 23 and running until March 30 from 11:00 to12:30 we will meet in St. Mark’s Church Hall to study “To Love and Serve: Anglican Beliefs and Practices.” Join us for a spirit led conversation of where God might be leading us. |

Palm Sunday Potluck LunchThis Sunday, being the fifth Sunday of the month, is our potluck lunch following the 10:30 service. Parishioners are invited to bring lunch items on Sunday that we will share together, in lieu of the usual coffee time. A potluck is what it is: we take our chances and share whatever people bring including casseroles, cold meat, cheeses, salads, veggie platters, fruit platters and (hopefully) some light desserts. Please plan to attend for some good food and fellowship. A rare chance to get to know those people in our Parish you haven’t had the opportunity to talk with. There will be coffee and tea too! |

Shroud of Turin PresentationDuring our potluck lunch on Sunday, March 29, there will be a presentation by Rev. Patrick Lublink on the ancient and fascinating artifact known as the Shroud of Turin. This artifact contains an image of a crucified man which modern science cannot explain, and which has caused many people to believe this to be the actual burial cloth of Jesus Christ. Is this piece of cloth genuine or it is a fake? The biblical, historical and scientific evidence will be presented to you and might surprise you; it will be up to you to judge. Rev. Patrick served in the Canadian Forces for 22 years as a non-commissioned officer before entering full-time ministry with the Salvation Army in 1995. He was then seconded in 2003 to the Canadian Forces as a military chaplain where he served for the next 12 years. He retired in 2015 and now, in post-retirement years, is a part-time civilian clergy with the Canadian Force Joint Signal Regiment in Kingston. Rev. Patrick has had a life-long interest in the Shroud of Turin and is convinced that the Shroud is a silent witness to the passion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He obtained a Master of Divinity degree from Tyndale Seminary in Toronto in 2002 and a Postgraduate Certificate in Shroud Studies from the Pontifical Institute in Rome, through online courses, in 2019. |

Flowering the CrossOn Easter Day you are invited to bring individual flower blooms/greenery to cover our Cross. These can be blooms from the garden (if they’re up yet!!), your home or blooms from the grocery store/florist. The flowering of the cross represents the transition from Good Friday to Easter, from meditation on Jesus' death to joyful celebration of his resurrection. It transforms a barren cross, a reminder of Jesus' death, into an Easter symbol. Covered with fresh, living flowers, the cross serves not only as an emblem of Jesus' resurrection but also of the continuing presence of Christ among today's Christians. |
