Lenten Study Begins

Lenten Study Begins

Monday, February 23

Starting Monday, February 23 and running until March 30 from 11:00 to12:30 we will meet in St. Mark’s Church Hall to study “To Love and Serve: Anglican Beliefs and Practices.”   This is a book by Forward Movement Ministries and is adapted for the Anglican Church of Canada. The book is available wherever you purchase books either electronically or in hard copy.

This book has been recommended for study by our Diocesan Bishop William Cliff. It is an opportunity to take a journey through the basic beliefs of our faith through the lens of Anglican Christianity.  We will walk through the liturgical year, the sacraments of the church, the habits of daily prayer and the teachings of the Anglican Church.  We will see how our prayer shapes our belief and our lives and how our beliefs lead us into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

If you are interested in purchasing a book from our Diocesan Synod office, please get your name and $15.00 to our own parish office before the end of January.  At that time Warden Ted Davie will take all monies and make one purchase on behalf of parishioners.

For more information or to express interest in attending, feel free to contact Rev. Sandra in person or at sandrahounselldrover@gmail.com

Join us for a spirit led conversation of where God might be leading us.

Tree of Hope Lenten Appeal

Tree of Hope Lenten Appeal

Throughout the season of Lent, we are invited to embrace the call to a holy Lent through prayer, self-examination, and almsgiving. This year, we are pleased to partner with the Tree of Hope campaign in support of Family and Children’s Services of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington (FACSFLA).

You are invited to participate in this Lenten appeal by making a donation using the special envelopes provided. Cheques may be made payable to Family and Children’s Services with “Tree of Hope” noted on the memo line. Tax receipts will be issued by FACSFLA for all donations over $20. Please ensure your address is clearly written on the envelope. If you prefer, you may also give directly through FACSFLA’s secure online portal - here

As part of our Lenten journey, we invite everyone to “take up your Cross” from the Tree of Life and Awesome Mystery, allowing it to serve as a prayerful symbol of your commitment. May it guide your discernment and generosity as we grow together in faith, compassion, and service this holy season.

Thank you for helping to plant seeds of hope that will flourish throughout the year.

St. Mark's Book Club

St. Mark's Book Club

Monday, March 2

St. Mark's Book Club will be meeting at the home of Alan Rumsey at 2:30 on Monday, March 2 to review and discuss the book Testament.

From Governor General’ s Award-winner Nino Ricci, one of Canada’s most highly acclaimed literary voices, Testament is a bold work of historical fiction. Set in a remote corner of the Roman Empire at a moment of political unrest and spiritual uncertainty, it re-tells the life of a holy man of enormous charisma who alters the course of human history. Grounded in extensive research, and written with the poetic sensibility that has earned Ricci an international reputation, Testament vividly recreates first-century Palestine in elegant but accessible prose to explore the story of the man we know as Jesus.

Provocative, ambitious and rich in the sights and smells of the ancient world, Testament brings a new perspective to the greatest story ever told.

New members to the book club always welcome.  Please let Alan know if you plan to attend this meeting at alan@planetrumsey.ca.
