September 30 marks our National Day of Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. The day honours the lost children and survivors of residential schools, their families and communities. 

We will commemorate the day during our worship time on Sunday, September 28.

For worship that day, you are invited to wear orange as a sign of remembering, solidarity, and a commitment to seek healing. 

Community Food Drive

Saturday, October 4

St. Mark's Church is holding a Community Food Drive on Saturday, October 4th from 10am to 12 noon. All proceeds will go to The Partners in Mission Food Bank in Kingston. Please bring your donations (cash and cheques also accepted!!) for drop-off at the church steps.
 
The most needed items are: feminine hygene products, personal hygene products (tooth brushes, toothpaste etc.), canned meat and fish, peanut butter and jam, canned stews, canned tomatoes, rice and pasta, baby food, baby formula and diapers, cereals, tea, coffee and sugar. Empty one dozen egg cartons are also appreciated.

Car Rally and Scavenger Hunt

Saturday, October 18

PLEASE RESERVE THIS DATE ON YOUR CALENDAR:

St. Mark’s annual scavenger hunt/car rally will be held on SATURDAY, 18 October 2025.  Lunch will be served at 12 noon at St. Mark’s Church Hall  (268 Main Street, Barriefield/Kingston East, K7K 6W4) and then staggered departures starting at 1PM. All types of cars are eligible, especially classic cars!!

More details about registration to come.

This rally is not designed for speed but for a fun, social time with friends and family, enjoying the route and the beautiful autumn scenery around us.

Proceeds go to St. Mark’s Church Tower Restoration Fund. Thank you very much for participating in our community events.

Since 2014, Lionhearts Inc. have been driven by a deep desire to see all people living with human dignity. Lionheart's  goal is to unite people in the community with practical acts of love. They have crafted programs to invigorate and reinforce the local organizations who are already doing the heavy lifting here in Eastern Ontario. They facilitate the logistics required for lionhearted businesses to safely and efficiently donate surplus food to local agencies who are doing the hard work to support our disenfranchised neighbours.
